Avalon Bikes to Work!

Biking v2 4 Avalonians in front of DB

Avalonians participated today in the annual Bike to Work Day—a free, annual event to encourage commuting by bike in Washington, DC. Avalon’s own Zach Brooks, who regularly bikes to work, got us organized and registered, and we met up at 13th and I Street NW, near Franklin Square for a photo (see above).

We did Avalon proud—navigating the city streets with (for those who needed them) our new bike-commuting tips that Zach provided.

The organizers arranged more than 80 pit stops in DC, MD, and VA with food, drinks, prizes and entertainment, fun activities, and terrific speakers—which we took full advantage of on a steamy morning that was on its way to hitting 90 degrees. Plus, we got free t-shirts as some of the first 16,000 registrants.

It was great to see so many participants making an effort to reduce the number of cars on the road and promote biking as a great transportation alternative!
