David Wolkin joined Avalon after more than 6 years as a copywriter with MissionWired (formerly Chapman Cubine Allen + Hussey), crafting everything from donor acquisition campaigns for presidential candidates to thank you notes from chimpanzees. The only thing that excites him more than diving into a new project is supporting his colleagues day in and day out.
Avalon is the second chapter of David’s second career, after he spent 15 years working in the Jewish community as an educator, communicator, and nonprofit leader, gaining skills and experience that continue to serve him today.
David’s work is driven by one core idea: to use his creative skills to do good work with good people in service of building a better world. Whether he’s raising money for Democratic candidates, building campaigns for a civil rights group, or helping a new museum develop their donor messaging, David loves telling an organization’s story and growing their base of support.
When he’s not writing, David loves the New York Times crossword, shopping the dollar bins at comic book stores, and cooking for friends and family. After spending 10 idyllic years in Takoma Park, Maryland, David recently returned to the suburbs of Chicago where he grew up, where he shares his life and home with his very patient wife Keeli, their dog Waffles, and their cats Phineas and RoboCop.
